The London Regiment Association
In accordance with its Objectives, the LRA will continue to support predominantly LONDONS veterans, albeit in a much-reduced form (“LRA-light”). The most important constituency is those officers and soldiers, from the Former (those serving in Regular or Reserve units who have previously served in, or attached to (e.g. Corps-attached personnel), the Regiment or its antecedents) and Retired (those who have previously served in, or attached to, the Regiment or its antecedents) components, who may not feel any affinity with 1 LONDON GDS or parent Foot Guard regimental associations.
However, the wider Regimental ‘family’ will also encompass serving members of 1 LONDON GDS and the Cadet Component (Adult Volunteers, Officers and Adult NCOs in any detachment, company or sector affiliated to 1 LONDON GDS).
LRA-light will not seek to duplicate what antecedent capbadge associations are doing
The Association offers a structure that allows the Regimental family to remain in touch with each other, with what the serving soldiers are doing and how the Regiment and its successor unit is developing, principally through the several events planned each year, which benefit from the Regiment’s close links with the Guards Division and with London. These include the annual Regimental (Anzio) Dinner at the Cavalry and Guards Club; the Cenotaph Parade and lunch; and the Carol Service. Details can be found on the Events page.
